Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Digital System Resources, Inc., has been contracted by the U. S. Navy to develop a prototype system for the transmission of military data via a wireless Local Area Network (LAN). This effort is being performed under U. S. Navy contract N000178-99-C-3060, which is being administered by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, in Dahlgren, VA. The STA is needed for development and testing of the RF communication portion of a prototype wireless LAN. This prototype is being developed in order to perform a technology demonstration for the U. S. Navy. Ultimately, the technology will need to be demonstrated within the military frequency band. The experimental license will be used to begin developmental work on this program. Digital System Resources, Inc., is requesting a six month extension to the FCC Experimental Special Temporary Authorization to continue development U. S. Navy contract N000178-99-C-3060 period of performance extension.
