Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We are developing a Software Defined Radio for the Government and need to conduct integration and demo/testing on a UAS platform to validate the datalink performance. An STA is required to allow us to obtain approvals to operate radios in L and S bands for the demonstration. Planned operations include ground tests and flight tests; the air terminal will communicate with a ground terminal. The aircraft is planned to take-off from W50 Davis and operate the UAS within 1KM of the airfield with ground nodes at the airfield and 20kms away at Sugar Loaf Mountain.
