Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
In accordance with KDB 715555 and the public notice therein contained, test laboratories performing RF Immunity tests outside of a shielded room require STA and coordination with FCC Field office. The equipment subject to this test is too large to fit inside of a shielded enclosure and therefore the test is performed at the manufacturers facilities.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:
In order for the clients equipment to be tested in accordance with foreign market (European Union) requirements, RF Immunity testing is required. The test will be performed inside of a building with expected shielding of approximately 6dB due to roof and concrete walls. The test to be performed covers 80 MHz to 6GHz swept incrementally in 1% frequency steps at a field strength not to exceed 10 V/m. Each target frequency has a dwell time of approximately 5 seconds. Nearby aviation frequencies are intended to be avoided, such as 118-138 MHz and 406-406.1 MHz. We request that the FCC assist to identify any other bands where this experiment should be limited. During the proposed dates of operation, the test is expected to be run intermittently only over the course of 2-3 days. The actual start date has yet to be determined. If desired, we can provide notification to FCC on completion of the test.
