Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Zen Networks is seeking a Special Temporary Authority to operate experimental point-to-point communications links operating at millimeter-wave frequencies above 100GHz. The links will be transmitting 10 Gb/s per carrier, from 102.1-109.4GHz. The FCC has not yet established a radio service at frequencies this high, so an STA is necessary to permit field deployment.

Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:
This will be a proof of concept deployment of 100GHz millimeter wave communications in an urban environment. The proposed study includes validation of multiple bidirectional links operating at 10 Gbps at distances up to 4 km. We plan to operate two separate band-limited paths in close proximity on the same frequencies between each pair of sites, along with back-to-back repeaters at the intermediate site; validating these capabilities is part of the experiment.
