CMU is working with the City of Palo Alto to develop a rapidly deployable GSM data and telephony network for use in emergency situations. CMU plans to present this research at Palo Alto’s annual Quakeville disaster simulation event (http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/news/displaynews.asp?NewsID=2276&TargetID=1.7.5.). GSM service will be restricted to a select group of Quakeville emergency personnel who will assist CMU in a field test during the disaster simulation.
