Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Applicant is a video production company which provides video for broadcast, satellite broadcast and cablecast of sporting and other events. Applicant has certain LTTS, BAS and Private Wireless licenses for this purpose. However, the applicant has been engaged to provide video production services for upcoming NASCAR automobile races in Daytona Beach, FL, Joliet, IL and Indianapolis, IN from July 1 - July 28, 2008. Available channels for voice audio to coordinate video production activities are extremely limited due to use by car racing teams, security, and other operations personnel in the area and at the race course. Applicant requires the use of additional UHF channels for portable, two-way voice communications for this event on a short-term, temporary basis. Proposed is the use of channels 16 (482-488 MHz) and channel 18 (494-500 MHz). Applicant has conducted a co-channel search of television stations in the area of the race tracks. See exhibit. Due to the proposed low power operation by applicant, no interference to television viewers is anticipated. Should any interference be reported, applicant will cease use of any portion of the requested bands immediately, unless and until remedied.
