Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Four Video Channels of at least 8 MHz necessary bandwidth below 3 GHz are required for video production of the automobile race known as the Daytona 500 in Daytona, Florida, during the period February 9 through 20, 2006. Applicant is a video production company which holds various LTTS, BAS and private wireless licenses, which normally are used in addition to those used by STA and coordinated with AFTRCC, the Aeronautical Flight Test Telecommunications Council. However, in this case, the BAS/LTTS channels between 1990 and 2110 MHz, Channels A1 through A7, are unavailable according to the local Society of Broadcast Engineers coordinator, due to other normal BAS uses of those channels by broadcast licensees for electronic news gathering and other purposes. The requested channels are needed on a one-time, temporary basis for video production of the automobile race for in-car cameras and relay of the video from the in-car cameras to the production truck at the racetrack for broadcast, satellite broadcast and cablecast. All channels allocated to the Amateur Service will be coordinated via ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio, which will handle any and all local Florida notifications.
