Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Applicant is a video production company which provides video for broadcast, satellite broadcast and cablecast of sporting and other events. Applicant has certain LTTS, BAS and private wireless licenses for this purpose. However, the applicant has been engaged to provide video production services for the upcoming National Hot Rod Association automobile racing event at the Pomona Raceway at Fairplex Park, CA on November 12th through 17th, 2008. Available channels for voice audio to coordinate video production activities are extremely limited due by other licensees in the in and around the vicinity of the track area. Applicant requires the use of additional UHF channels for portable, two-way voice communications for this event on a short-term, temporary basis. Proposed is the use of 476-482 MHz, Television channel 15. Applicant has conducted an interference study using the Commissions television channel database. See attachment. Applicant does not expect any interference from this low power operation to television viewers in the area. Should any interference be complained of, applicant will cease use of the 476-482 MHz band immediately, until remedied. The Commission has previously granted identical STA?s for this event at this location in the past.
