Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of frequencies within TV channel 5 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY. Based on an engineering analysis it does not appear that any interference will be caused to existing operating television stations. There is a licensed LPTV station (WNYX-LD Facility ID 29236) in New York, NY on channel 5; however, a search of the FCC LMS database indicates this station was granted a request to be silent on 11/05/2018 and expiring on 5/05/2019 and subsequently requested on 4/26/2019 a further extension to remain silent that has not been acted on by the FCC. Therefore, it appears this station will remain off the air for the foreseeable future. The purpose will be to transmit two audio channels to spectators using special receivers while they are attending events at the stadium. A 6-month STA is again being requested to allow for setup and testing leading up to the actual use of the system during the U. S. Open Tennis Championship Tournament. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities as well as other services for coverage of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events.
