Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of 2385 MHz at the Red Bull Air Race World Series 2017 event at San Diego, CA from April 10 through April 17, 2017. This is a very large and potentially hazardous event for the pilots and the many thousands of attendees. Public Safety concerns are paramount at events of this magnitude, where coordination and communications have been issues in the past and the consequences have been tragic. Good communications is key to minimizing the risks to the public and the pilots. The requested frequency has been coordinated with AFTRCC - Copy of coordination confirmation is attached. Please note the FCC has already granted Broad Comm two STAs (WL9XAH & WL9XAI) for this event. This is being applied for separately due to the need for the AFTRCC coordination.
