Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of 2200, 2210 and 2220 MHz and several frequencies in the Industrial Business Pool for the purpose of providing portable video and logistics support for the televised network coverage of the U. S. Open Tennis event and related events from the period of August 24 through September 14, 2009 at Flushing NY. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities for coverage of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. Broad Comm requests authority to use the 2 GHz frequencies to permit use of portable video camera transmitters that operate in the 2 GHz frequency band. Hardware limitations prevent operation of these cameras in spectrum reserved for broadcast auxiliary operations. Numerous frequencies are being requested since we are aware that they are shared with other users and this increases the likely hood of an available frequency.
