Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of a number of frequencies to provide video coverage to a number of television stations for a Red Bull Air Race World Series 2009 event. This is a major international event and this application includes setup and pre-event activities that will take place in the Detroit, MI area over the period from June 9 to June 14, 2009. The frequencies being requested here are for operation in the United States although the majority of the event and coverage will be from the Canadian side of the border. This event requires a significant number of frequencies for coverage, logistics and safety and most have been authorized by the Canadian government for use in Canada. However, the additional frequencies requested here are needed for the portion of the event coverage that will take place in the Detroit area.
