Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of several VHF frequencies as well as 2230 and 2270 MHz at various airport locations throughout the United States. The requested frequencies will be used for ground support of a cross country filght by a solar powered aircraft. This use will occur between April 1, and August 31, 2013. A number of VHF frequencies have been requested to allow for the fact that certain frequencies may not be available in some areas since all are shared with other users. Broad Comm provides radio frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities as well as other services for coverage and/or coordination of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for numerous previous events.
