Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This regards a request by Broad Comm, Inc. (Broad Comm) for Special Temporary Authority (STA) to allow use of four frequencies in the band from 470 to 476 MHz (TV Channel 14) for the period March 23 to March 26, 2006. The frequencies will be used to provide logistical support for televison network coverage of THE PLAYERS Championship Golf Tournament at Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. No interference to existing televison operations is anticiapted due to the low power proposed for this use (maximum 25 watts ERP). A search of the FCC televison database shows the nearest TV channel 14 is a DTV station (WRDQ) in Orlando, FL that is 182.8 km from the proposed site. Likewise no adjacent channel interference would be anticiapted since the nearest TV channel 15 station is a LPTV 68.7 km from the proposed site. Broad Comm provides radio-frequency support services to broadcasters and broadcast network entities for coverage of major events. The FCC has granted Broad Comm and others similar requests for several previous events. In that there are significant logistics involved in covering such an event, the network will need the use of frequencies above and beyond those normally avaialble for their day-to-day production activities.
