Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This request for Special Temporary Authority (STA) is submitted pursuant to 47 CFR 5.61 to request frequency authorization. The STA is for frequency licensing of the bi-directional datalink controlling a UAV of less than one pound known as a Micro-UAV. The datalink hardware is manufactured from Microhard as model pMDDL2350 which is a single frequency communication device operating within the band of 2.304 GHz to 2.390 GHz requiring FCC licensing.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of the operation is for Bell to conduct testing of a small model aircraft known as the Micro-UAV with a weight of less than one pound. Flight testing of the Micro-UAV is part of product development. Testing is planned at Bell Textron’s Wrangler Field located just south of Graford, Texas in Palo Pinto County. An attached letter details the testing. In the interest of resolving any potential frequency conflict, Bell is requesting licensing for the operational range from within the band of 2.304 GHz to 2.390 GHz; however, only one channel will be used at any given time.
