The STA will enable ACSS to evaluate and characterize a Detect-and-Avoid radar product from Echodyne Corp. (model MESA-DAA). Ground and airborne testing would be performed with this radar in the Phoenix area.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
Evaluate and characterize a Detect-and-Avoid radar product. The MESA-DAA is an ultra-small SWAP-C radar that has been designed to enable UAVs to detect and avoid other airborne vehicles, thus allowing them to safely fly Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS). ACSS will be evaluating and testing the radar to characterize its performance.
