Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
A special temporary authority is necessary for our research on coexistence study of radar systems with other technologies, such as cellular systems. The objective of this research is to develop innovative interference cancellation techniques for the radar systems. During the coarse of this research, a simulation model will be built for developing and analyzing these interference cancellation techniques. Here, it is important for us to develop a realistic channel model for obtaining pragmatic results from the simulator. For this reason, we need to perform channel impulse response measurements. From the measurement results, we can extract the channel statistics which will be used as the input parameters to the channel model.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:
During the experiment, we will perform impulse response measurements of a channel (1.2 GHz to 1.3 GHz) with 100 MHz bandwidth. This 100 MHz bandwidth, for example, can correspond to an LTE-Advanced transmission utilizing carrier aggregation. The transmitter and the receiver each consists of a software defined radio that is controlled by a host computer. The whole experiment will be conducted in an indoor office location with low transmission power (20 dBm max.). We will use monopole antennas (gain = 3.4 dBi) at the transmitter and the receiver. The length of the antenna is 17 cm which is 5/8 wavelength.
