Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Amplisine Labs LLC seeks Special Temporary Authority (“STA”) for the purpose of designing and developing a mesh network system. The system will consist of communication nodes networked to embedded sensors; “gateway” nodes will allow cellular network access and will connect multiple sites without a cellular network for data transfers. Amplisine will conduct experiments to test a gateway node operating at 476-482 and 482-488 MHz. Tests will be conducted measuring signal strength and noise levels to determine the impact of the terrain and operating environment; to determine software signal processing; to determine power requirements for the transmission of complex data packets; to define security requirements; and to research antenna design requirements. Each test will last no longer than 8 hours and tests will not be performed for more than four consecutive days. Amplisine will coordinate in advance with the local licensees of frequencies requested in this application. A condition on the license requiring such coordination will be accepted.

Special Temporary Authority application - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
To develop a network of gateway and communication nodes for the oil and gas industries. The gateway node will broadcast sensor information from distant stations to a monitoring site through an ad-hoc wireless network. The monitoring site will perform data mining and summarize the data. The monitoring data will then be transmitted through a mesh network back to headquarters. Examples of the data to be transmitted are oil tank levels, pump speed, pressure, separator tank levels, and other performance information related to an oil and water separation station and its pumping system.
