Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation

Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Adaptive Broadband Corporation is a manufacturer of radio equipment designed for point-to-multipoint high data rate digital communications. We have reached the pre-production stage of such a system designed for operation in the so-called MDS and MMDS frequency range between 2500 and 2700 MHz. Prior to providing demonstration beta models to potential customers who are licensed in these services, it is essential that we do a limited amount of over-the-air testing to ensure that the system operates properly in a real-world environment. The testing will take place intermittently over a six month period, and needs to begin on or about February 1, 2001. Therefore, we believe that an STA is the appropriate authorization.

Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation

Please explain the purpose of operation:
Prior to providing demonstration beta models to potential customers who are licensed in these services, it is essential that we do a limited amount of over-the-air testing to ensure that the system operates properly in a real-world environment. One unit will be installed on the roof of our facility in North Billerica, MA. Another unit will be installed on the roof of Fox Hall at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and possibly at other commercial locations within a 20 km radius of our facility. Evaluation will be made of the RF path, error performance, protocol operation, and other aspects of operation over the air. Similarly, a unit will be installed on the roof of our Frisco, Texas facility, and an additional 1 to 3 units will be installed on commercial properties within a 20 km radius.
