Form 442 Request for Experimental License to Test S—band Digital Repeaters Dear Mr. Burtle: XM Radio Inc. ("XM Radio"), one of the two Digital Audio Radio Service ("DARS") licensees in the United States, hereby files this Form 442 for an experimental license pursuant to Part 5 of the Commission‘s rules to conduct tests of terrestrial repeaters at four fixed locations in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in its licensed frequency band (2332.5—2345 MHz). XM Radio already holds an STA to conduct these tests. See File No. 0199—EX—ST—2000. This STA is set to expire on August 1, 2000. As required by Section 5.61(b) of the Commission‘s Rules, this request for an experimental license as well as a request for an extension of the STA have been filed today, prior to the expiration of the STA. XM Radio is authorized to operate its DARS system in the U.S. in the 2332.3—2345 MHz frequency band on an exclusive basis, and it believes that it can continue to conduct the testing without causing interference to any existing radio operators The required filing fee of $45.00 and FCC Form 159 are enclosed with this request.
