Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This application is part of an experimental high altitude balloon flight to test novel radio systems developed at VT. The maximum flight duration is 12 hours. The launch window for the flight is only a two week period in late April / Early May. Therefore, temporary authorization is appropriate. Please see Experiment Description Exhibit for more details.
Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
To test novel radio systems. The radio systems will be utilized onboard the high altitude balloon and two mobile ground stations for the purposes of command and control of the payload and telemetry download during the flight. Please see Experiment Description Exhibit for more details.
