Applicant Eligibility

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is a public research
university with a graduate research program in engineering accredited by the Accreditation
Board for Engineering and Technology. The university is home to Wireless @ Virginia Tech,
a multi-disciplinary research group comprised of world-leading engineering faculty and
students with a 26-year history of solid research results and innovation. Virginia Tech is
among the “serial” holders of experimental licenses with demonstrated expertise in radio
spectrum management.

With a research portfolio of $504 million in fiscal year 2015, Virginia Tech is in the top 50 of
the National Science Foundation rankings for research expenditures. The university has
institutional processes to monitor and effectively manage a wide variety of research
projects.

The program area identified in our license application is our main campus area in
Blacksburg combined with the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center all of which is under
the control of the university. If this application is approved, we will seek to add a second
campus area around the Kentland Experimental Aerial Systems (KEAS) Laboratory also
under the control of the university.
