Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The purpose of this experiment is to test the performance of an ultra-wideband radar system when operated on board the Vanilla Unmanned VA001 aircraft ( The radar system will transmit a waveform in the S and C bands, with its antennas looking towards the nadir direction. This work is funded through a grant from NASA to study sea ice in the Artic. The original license granted for this was for October 2020 but that has been canceled due to COVID issues. This application is for April 2021 but I would like to request a 6 month window incase of schedule changes due to travel issues related to COVId.

Please explain the purpose of operation:  These flights will be sea ice flights of the complete system in Alaska in April 2021.
