Dear Mr. Morgan: o¥+07

Attached in duplicate is FCC Form 442 related exhibits. Pursuant to
Rule Section 5.55(d), U S WESTComntunications, Inc. ("USWC") hereby
requests renewal and modification of the PCS Experimental License for
Boulder, Colorado for an addittonal18 months beyond the November 1,
1995 expiration date. U has filed 13 quarterly reports detailing the
progress of this trial. The fourteenth progress report is currently being
finalized and will be filed shortly.

Up to this point the trial has placed major emphasis on the Boulder
Industry Test Bed ("BITB") activities. A variety of radio technologies have
been tested in the urban outdoor laboratory setting provided by the BITB.
This testing was done in cooperation with NTIA and a number of
equipment vendors.

A grant of this renewal will permit USWC to move to the second phase of
experimentation outlined in the original application. In this second phase
USWC will focus on one specific technology, CDMA. The objectives in this
phase are to verify the accuracy of CDMA coverage models, to address
technical issues, and to obtain consumer opinions regarding quality of
service and wireline—like features. The results of this phase will provide
valuable data contributing to the design of services and to the cost effective
deployment of PCS.
