Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The Aerospace Corporation will be conducting short-term satellite communication tests that require use of custom transmitters for the duration of the test.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  The Special Temporary Authority is for a series of satellite communication tests to be conducted at the following locations: Thousand Oaks, CA; Albuquerque, NM; and Hill AFB, UT. There will be a total of four custom Ku-band (14.0-14.5 GHz) transmitters, each transmitting to a satellite transponder. At any given time each terminal could be in any of the above locations, but the total number of transmitters will not exceed four. The transmit bandwidth will not exceed 4 MHz. The spectrum of the transmitted signal and the power flux density of the signals will comply with all transponder requirements. The EIRP of three stations will not exceed 57.2 dBWi, but typical EIRPs will be lower than these limits.
