Please explain the purpose of operation: |
Testing equipment.
Telephonics plans on operating the company King Air B-200 aircraft within a 50 nautical mile radius of our Integration and Repair Facility (TSS) located at the KECG Airport in Elizabeth City, North Carolina or our Corporate Headquarters located at the KFRG Airport in Farmingdale, New York. A Vortex Airborne Terminal will be installed on the aircraft. A portable Mini-TCDL Surface Terminal will be located on Telephonics’ property located at either KECG Airport in Elizabeth City, North Carolina or the KFRG Airports in Farmingdale, New York. In order to test the extreme limits of the VORTEX equipment for both quality and transmission rates of the data, the aircraft will execute transmission testing from the aircraft to the ground station within 50 nautical miles of the base station at altitudes between sea level and 10,000 feet. Transmission tests from the aircraft are expected to be conducted during both day and night operations, and in various weather conditions to better understand their specific impacts, if any. The data transmissions will consist of actual radar imagery and ancillary video data. Aircraft flight routes will take advantage of surface targets on the local navigable waterways to capture and transmit radar targets of opportunity. |
