Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The proposed STA is required and will serve the public interest because: i) mobile digital wireless video service, if able to be delivered as part of an established broadcast service, is an innovative technology that will deliver significant benefits to the public; (ii) the proposed experimental STA will facilitate a real-world demonstration of mobile wireless video service during the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, which will commence on [date]; iii) the proposed STA is of temporary duration, intending to commence and end in April 2009; (iv) the proposed permittee is the [licensee/parent company of the licensee] of KBLR-DT, Paradise, Nevada, which operates a digital broadcast television channel on the same UHF channel (Channel 40) as the proposed STA, and is prepared to coordinate the operations of the proposed STA as needed; and (v) the proposed STA is limited in scope and is intended to improve handheld reception of KBLRDT in areas on the Las Vegas Strip, around the Las Vegas Convention Center and inside the Convention Center through a distributed transmission system.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Mobile wireless video testing The purpose of the operation is to determine if a new distributed transmission technology can be deployed and optimized to improve ATSC candidate standard A/153 mobile/handheld reception in urban areas such as Las Vegas without causing interference to conventional ATSC DTV reception on the same channel If this test is successful, the new technology and the distributed transmission system will be demonstrated during the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas.
