Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This is a request for extension of the present STA granted by the Commission April 7, 2003. The present STA is scheduled to expire October 7, 2003. On May 6, 2003, Telex filed a Request for Special Waiver with the Chief, Public Safety and Private Wireless Division, WTB, to obtain permanent authority for Part 90 eligibles for business/industrial licenses to deploy the subject wireless headsets and intercom products within operating nuclear power facilities in the continental United States. WTB has not to date adjudicated the waiver request. Therefore, this first extension of the present STA is necessary to permit immediate, temporary use of certain Telex wireless headsets and intercom products within operating nuclear power facilities in the Continental United States, pending Commission action on eligibility waivers for nuclear facility licensing in the United States to license and deploy these devices on a permanent basis.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Operation of wireless headsets and intercom devices within nuclear power facilities.
