Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Sierra Nevada Corporation would like to perform field trials of a 34.5 GHz radar at Reno Stead Airport. SNC has coordinated with the local airport authority who is in agreement to support the test. An STA needs to be obtained to allow radiation of the 2 Watt 34.5 GHz radar signal.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC) is currently undertaking research and development of a dual-thread landing system using a 34.5 GHz transponder/radar and a Differential GPS system. SNC would like to perform brief field trials comparing the radar position accuracy to the DGPS position accuracy. The test will be performed using a ground vehicle (rather than an aircraft). Data will be collected so that the accuracy of the systems can be compared and so that analyses can be performed to determine how best to coordinate the operation of the two systems in a dual-thread mode.
