Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
In order to locate and operate an experimental HF Surface Wave radar on Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) property to support an experiment for the US Missile Defence Agency (MDA), an FCC license is required. The equipment suggested for this purpose will be a modified SRI Frequency Agile Radar (FAR) used in previous overseas studies for the National Science Foundation, with no previous license requirement. In order to obtain necessary approvals to operate the equipment on VAFB we will need the temporary license. Current research data collection in support of the Missile Defense Agency for High Frequency Radar Early Launch Detection.
