Special Temporary Authority application - Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The purpose of the STA request is the technical evaluation by our customer, including field test of 2 products under development. The concerned products are 2 different type of Set Top Boxes : -Product 1: DGCI 384 UHD ALT US. This device is a Cable Set Up Box with external power supply, including DOCSIS 3.0 modem cable and Wi-Fi WLAN 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. See attached specification -Product 2: DCIWA 384 UHD ALT US. This device is a Cable Set Up Box with external power supply, including IP interface and Wi-Fi WLAN 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. See attached specification To do that, we need to provide him very quickly several hundred of each product (prototype version) to do technical evaluation in his lab, and field trial at real final end users, from beginning of September 2016 to maximum February 2017. The products are currently under development and we shall not be able to achieve the final FCC certification before the date of this technical evaluation, although the certification of both products will be engaged and achieved before mass production planned end of 2017/Q1.

Special Temporary Authority application - Initial values - Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:
The purpose of this customer campaign is to evaluate the functioning and the performance of the products through lab tests and field trial tests in order to finalize the two products before mass production and commercial field deployment. All the prototypes used for this evaluation will be under the responsibility of our customer: ALTICE US 11 Stewart Avenue Bethpage NY 11 714 The evaluation will be done in New-York Area and Texas Area. Regarding the Wi-Fi 5GHz functioning, and especially the DFS management, the configuration is not the same for our 2 products. For Product 1 (DGCI384UHD ALT US) This product uses the Broadcom 4366 device for the 802.11ac 5GHz 4x4 The Broadcom device is configured as an access point and includes the DFS functionality when the device operates in the bands 5 250 MHz to 5 350 MHz (U-NII-2-A) and 5 470 MHz to 5 725 MHz (U-NII-2-C). We already have implemented the Broadcom 4366 device in the same configuration (4x4) with DFS functionality in another product which has been FCC certified in June 2016: complete FCCpart15 C and FCC part 15 E. DFS testing has been done on this product (Home hubFAST5566: VW3FAST5566) and some additional DFS testing has been done in FCC laboratory in USA to finalize the certification. For this new product, we use the same DFS functionalities and drivers as the ones used for product Home hub FAST5566. For information, the block diagram for the product DGCI384 UHD ALT US is given in attached document. For Product 2 (DCIWA384UHD ALT US) This product also uses the Broadcom 4366 device for the 802.11ac 5GHz 4x4. The Broadcom device is configured as slave without radar detection. In this configuration the device is able to change channel according the access point requirements, which managed the DFS (if requested). For information, the block diagram for the product DCIWA384UHD ALT US is given in attached document.
