Please explain the purpose of operation: |
Technical Experimentation (TE) event conducted by the United States Special Operations Command.
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) conducts Technical Experimentation (TE) events throughout the Continental United States with government, academic, and private industry representation. These events provide a unique opportunity for technology developers like Rockwell Collins to interact with the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community in a collaborative environment.
In this test, TE 14-2, Rockwell Collins will test waveforms over the air to characterize performance and actual wideband HF (WBHF) channel propagation characteristics. In addition, it will test the feasibility of bridging WBHF with U.S. Tactical Digital Information Link (TADILJ), also known as Link-16 by its NATO designation. TE 14-2 offers a unique opportunity to test and evaluate the impacts, limitations, and utility of linking TADILJ/Link-16 with WBHF. This experimental communications capability is under development by Rockwell Collins and the Office of Naval Research and looks at alternative beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) communications to meet SOF technical objectives of sustainment of operations in an anti-access, anti-denial environment. |
