Robert Bosch, GmbH
Request for Grant of Special Temporary Authority
File No. 1275 - EX-ST-2017

                           Narrative Exhibit Describing Operation

This application, filed by Robert Bosch LLC, an international manufacturer of tools, automotive
equipment and consumer products, requests special temporary authority during a periods of less
than two months beginning September 25, 2017 and ending November 15, 2017 to operate a
Bosch automotive radar sensor in the United States at two different locations, mounted on a
farming vehicle at each location. In each case, the sensors will be mounted on combine
harvesters operated under the auspices of the John Deere Corporation. The tests are for the
purpose of proof-of concept testing in soybean fields.

The device is a radar sensor to be mounted on the exterior of the farming vehicle. It is a Bosch
Model MRRe14HBW sensor which is certified in Europe for manufacture, marketing, sale and
operation. It is not yet certified in the United States, hence the need for this STA.

The device operates in the band 76-77 GHz and meets technical standards of Section 15.253 for
vehicular radar sensors in that band. The occupied bandwidth is 740 MHz and the device uses a
mean power of 50 dBm (100 watts output power) and peak power of 55 dBm or 316.22 watts.

It is proposed to deploy two of these sensors at each of two venues: soybean fields in Madison,
Wisconsin from 25 September to 13 October, 2017 and Annawn/Princeton, Illinois between 25
September and 15 November, 2017.

The Stop Buzzer contact in the United States is Mr. Simon Schilling, Bosch Engineering North
America, whose direct phone number is 248-563-1187. He is located in Farmington Hills,
Michigan and is an employee of Bosch.
