The region of interest has significant snow cover in spring time and contains a variety of terrains – including flat plateau, sloped areas and areas with heavy vegetation. Such a diverse terrain is critical to test radar performance.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  We plan to operate an airborne microwave radar for measuring snow thickness in the alpine region. The radar data will be used to validate and improve the national water model. The radar operates over the frequency band of 2-18 GHz with 0.5 W peak transmit power.
