Message:

John,
Here are the answers to the questions.

Should I delete the first antenna in the application since it contains no frequency data?
Yes

The area of mobile operations appears to be Dutch Harbor, AK, with a 660 km radius. Please verify that
this is correct.
Yes, this is needed as this is the maximum range of our vessels.

Will all ships used in this experiment be US registered vessels?
Yes

Please report complete emission designators (necessary bandwidth and the three alphanumeric
symbols in accordance with 47 CFR, Part 2.201) for each frequency band requested.
All frequencies will be F7W.

Please justify the need for 600 equipment units.
The need for 600 equipment units is justified by looking at the number of vessels being used in
the experiment. There will be between 100 and 200 vessels that will voluntarily be participating
in the experiment. By using the different frequencies requested and the number of vessels
participating, a total of 600 pieces of equipment will be needed to conduct the experiment.

Please justify the need for a five-year license as opposed to a two-year license.
There are three reasons for having a five year license period.

The length of a government grant for research is five years.

In this time we hope to develop new solutions to communications problems, some of which
have never been attempted and may take several years on there own.

In addition it is also due to the need to mix and match all equipment on the boats, during
each season of the year, to determine robustness of the network under different
environmental circumstances.
Emmett
