PETITION FOR WAIVER OF FILING DEADLINE

Nortel Networks, Inc. (“Nortel”) by its attorneys and pursuant to Section 5.65(c)(2) of

the Commission’s rules, hereby petitions for wavier of the requirement that its application, File

0194-EX-RR-2010, for renewal of an experimental license must be submitted at least sixty (60)

days prior to the scheduled expiration date of the license. See 47 C.F.R. §5.59.

BACKGROUND

On January 14, 2009, Nortel filed a petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S.

Bankruptcy Code. The bankruptcy petition effectively transferred control of Nortel to a debtor

in possession. Thereafter, Nortel divested a significant portion of its assets in the transfer of its

CDMA/LTE business to Ericsson, Inc. Since the sale to Ericsson, Nortel’s bankruptcy trustee

has been diligently working to address post-sale regulatory issues and other matters associated

with the potential sale of other assets and business interests of the company. However, due to

the magnitude of the responsibility and other time-consuming evaluations of assets that have

been required before Nortel could begin its review of its existing licenses and authorizations,

Nortel was unable to submit its renewal application prior to the 60-day deadline.

For the foregoing reasons, Nortel respectfully requests that the Commission grant its

waiver request, and accept its renewal application, File 0194-EX-RR-2010.
