January 30th, 2018 Nokia Bell Labs US LLC 600 Mountain Ave Murray Hill, NJ 07974 Pursuant to Sections 5.3 (e), (f), (h), 5.53 and 5.61(c) of the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) rules, 47 C.F.R. §§ 5.3 (e), (f), (h), 5.53, 5.61(c) (2017), Nokia respectfully requests an experimental license to operate on the requested spectrum for the purpose of testing, evaluating and demonstrating the performance and reliability of prototype equipment and associated software designed to support 5G innovative communications capabilities and functionalities. Grant of this application would serve to replace the existing special temporary authorization (“STA”) issued to Nokia for the experimentation granted under File No. 1149-EX-ST-2018, call sign WN9XDT. That STA covered the period September 1, 2018 – February 1, 2019 , due to delays in the delivery of certain test equipment and equipment needed for testing, the company was not able to complete its evaluations and demonstrations as proposed under that STA. This filing seeks authority to complete those evaluations and demonstrations. As provided under Section 5.61(c) of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. § 5.61(c) (2017), this application is also intended to serve as a continuance or extension of the above-referenced STA. The company understands, however, that such continuance or extension applies only to the operations as authorized and as conditioned under the STA.
