Motorola Solutions, Inc. Request for Part 5 Experimental Special Temporary Authority ELS File No. 1776-EX-ST-2016 REQUEST FOR EXPEDITED TREATMENT As discussed in the accompanying “Narrative Statement,” Motorola Solutions, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of mobile radio equipment for the public safety and homeland security community and is continually engaged in the design and development of new and innovative communications equipment. The experimental authority requested herein will allow the company to demonstrate the functionality and reliability of prototype or certified LTE devices designed to support the needs of potential users. Motorola Solutions was recently asked to conduct a demonstration of prototype broadband Long-Term Evolution (“LTE”) devices at the Twentynine Palms United States Marine Corps base in California. Accordingly, Motorola Solutions respectfully requests expedited treatment of its request for a short-term special temporary authority (“STA”) so that it may commence the demonstration on January 16, 2017. It is unable to re- schedule the test, as the representatives attending the demonstration cannot readily participate at another time. In addition, Motorola Solutions seeks to provide data regarding the results of the demonstration at follow-up meetings with the representatives to be held during the weeks after the demonstration. Also, please note that Motorola Solutions does not propose to market, sell, or lease prototype equipment to end users. Moreover, no fees will be charged to entities evaluating the equipment during the demonstrations. After the experimentation ceases, Motorola Solutions will recall and recover all devices that have not received equipment authorization or approval. PUBLIC INTEREST STATEMENT Motorola Solutions submits that expedited processing of its request for an STA is in the public interest, convenience, and necessity, as it will permit Motorola Solutions to develop innovative and acceptable equipment that will accommodate the communications needs of potential users. 14059473.1
