Motorola Solutions, Inc. Request for Part 5 Experimental Special Temporary Authority ELS File No. 0791-EX-ST-2017 REQUEST FOR EXPEDITED TREATMENT As discussed in the accompanying “Narrative Statement,” Motorola Solutions, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of mobile radio equipment for the public safety and homeland security community and is continually engaged in the design and development of new and innovative communications equipment. The experimental authority requested herein will allow the company to support the 2017 Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) Jamming Exercise to be held at Idaho National Laboratory (“INL”) located near Idaho Falls, Idaho. In addition, Motorola Solutions seeks to provide data regarding the results of the exercise at follow-up meetings with the representatives to be held during the weeks after the tests are concluded. Accordingly, Motorola Solutions respectfully requests expedited treatment of its request for a short-term special temporary authority (“STA”) so that it may commence its support of the exercise not later than July 15, 2017, when representatives attending the exercise are available to participate. In addition, please note that Motorola Solutions does not propose to market, sell, or lease prototype equipment to end users. Moreover, no fees will be charged to entities evaluating the equipment during the exercise. After the experimentation ceases, Motorola Solutions will recall and recover all devices that have not received equipment authorization or approval. PUBLIC INTEREST STATEMENT Motorola Solutions submits that expedited processing of its request for an STA is in the public interest, convenience, and necessity, as it will permit the company to support the development of innovative and acceptable equipment that will accommodate the communications needs of potential users. 14115297.1
