Motorola Solutions, Inc. Request for Part 5 Experimental Special Temporary Authority ELS File No. 0323-EX-ST-2014 EXHIBIT B REQUEST FOR EXPEDITED TREATMENT As discussed in the accompanying “Narrative Statement,” Motorola Solutions, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of mobile radio equipment for the public safety and homeland security community and is continually engaged in the design and development of new and innovative communications equipment. The experimental authority it has requested will allow the company to demonstrate the functionality of prototype devices designed to support the needs of the public safety and homeland security community. Motorola Solutions was recently asked to conduct demonstrations of prototype equipment at the Emergency Preparedness Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey, scheduled for the period May 5-9, 2014. Accordingly, Motorola Solutions respectfully requests expedited treatment of its request for special temporary authority (“STA”) so that it may commence the demonstration as requested. It is unable to re-schedule the test, as the representatives attending the conference cannot readily participate at another time. In addition, Motorola Solutions seeks to provide actual test data at the meetings to be held during the weeks following that test. Also, please note that Motorola Solutions does not propose to market, sell, or lease prototype equipment to end users. Moreover, no fees will be charged to entities evaluating the equipment during this test. After the experimentation ceases, Motorola Solutions will recall and recover all devices. Motorola Solutions submits that expedited processing of its request for an STA is in the public interest, convenience, and necessity, as it will permit Motorola Solutions to develop innovative equipment that will accommodate the communications needs of the public safety community.
