Motorola Solutions, Inc. FCC Form 442 Application For Modification of License NARRATIVE STATEMENT Pursuant to Section 5.51 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. § 5.51 (2015), Motorola Solutions, Inc., respectfully requests modification of the experimental licenses issued under call signs KB2XWO, WC2WYE, WC2XXG, WD2XDH and WE2XDR to add its new corporate offices—at 500 W. Monroe Street, Chicago, Illinois—as an authorized location for conducting tests and demonstrations of prototype equipment under design and development. No other changes to the technical specifications to these licenses are requested. The following information is provided in support of this request: Purpose of Modification: Motorola Solutions is actively involved in the design and development of hardware and software solutions to support both public-safety and enterprise operations. In particular, Motorola Solutions is continually researching the capabilities and functionality of innovative data and voice capabilities incorporated into not only commercial products, but also government, and military communications systems. Motorola Solutions currently conducts tests and demonstrations at various locations in the United States under its existing licenses. By this request, it seeks authority to conduct similar tests at its new corporate location in Chicago, Illinois (NL 41-52-51; WL 87-38-24 (NAD83)). All operations would be conducted only as specifically authorized under the applicable existing license. Moreover, Motorola Solutions does not propose to market, sell, or lease prototype equipment to end users, and no fees are charged to entities evaluating the equipment during these tests. After any experimentation ceases, Motorola Solutions recalls and recovers all devices that do not comply with FCC regulations. If any different treatment becomes necessary during the course of its experimentation, Motorola Solutions would seek separate and additional authority from the agency. Technical Specifications: As noted above, all operations would be conducted only as specifically authorized under the applicable existing license. Any antennas to be installed at the new location would not extend more than six meters (20 feet) above the ground or, if mounted on an existing building, would not extend more than six meters above the building. If an antenna is mounted on an existing structure other than a building, it would be installed in accordance with FAA and FCC rules and regulations.

FCC Form 442 Application For Modification of License Motorola Solutions also recognizes that its proposed operation must not cause harmful interference to authorized facilities. It does not anticipate that such interference will occur, but should interference occur, it will take steps immediately to resolve the interference, including if necessary discontinuing operation. To that end, Motorola proposes to advise entities involved in the experimentation that permission to operate has been granted under experimental authority issued to Motorola Solutions, is strictly temporary and may be canceled at any time. Moreover, Motorola Solutions proposes to label the equipment or provide explanatory user information as required by FCC rules. Public Interest Statement: Motorola Solutions submits that grant of the modification of its experimental licenses as requested herein is in the public interest, convenience, and necessity, as it would permit Motorola Solutions to continue to develop innovative equipment that will accommodate the communications needs of users.
