Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This STA, requested start date of January 22, 2010, is necessary to support X-band disaster relief in Haiti in support of portable units to be used in Haiti by the United States Air Force Special Operations Command.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  The operation includes emergency communications and damage assessment in Haiti in connection with recent natural disasters. The U.S. portion of the network is a 5.0m hub in Holmdel, New Jersey, communicating via XTAR LANT. Communications are to start no later than January 22, 2010, and directly support the Air Force Special Operations Commands efforts to stabilize the airport in Port-au-Prince as well as damage assessment and security issues, and the data will be sent directly back to the Pentagon.
