Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 1689-EX-ST-2016

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to further test an automobile racing communications system for voice
and telemetry that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at one test session at the
Daytona Motorsports Raceway in Daytona, Florida during January 6-8, 2017 and during actual
racing events at the same venue during January 26-29, 2017. The system will be deployed by
five different race teams at each test: AF Corse Racing, Ford Racing, Dragon Speed, Aston
Martin (Prodrive Racing) and Rebellion Racing. The race teams will use the communications
system on a developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC Motorsport
Communications.

The dates during 2017 when this system will be deployed are: January 6-8, 2017 inclusive and
January 26-29, 2017 inclusive.

The applicant requires a series of 12.5 kHz channel bandwidth frequency pairs and simplex
channels as specified in this application in the VHF range for duplex voice transmissions; and
three, 25 kHz channel bandwidth frequencies in the UHF range for short-range telemetry
transmissions.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF and UHF channel ranges
sought and proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of the Daytona
International Speedway. These are Amateur Radio telemetry UHF channels which are unused in
the area.

The “stop buzzer” contact on site on behalf of the applicant is Mr. Daniel Cox, frequency
manager for MRTC, whose mobile number is +44 (0) 1509 224300. If a United States cellular
number is required, undersigned counsel will also serve as a stop buzzer contact, at (301) 351-
3795. All operation will cease on any channel after a report of harmful interference and will not
resume unless and until the complaint is resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant.

Other inquiries can be addressed to undersigned counsel for MRTC Motorsport
