Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 1467-EX-ST-2018

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to further test an automobile racing communications system for voice
communciations that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at one racing event
during the period September 27-30, 2018 at a single racing venue; the Porsche Tribute Tour. The
system will be deployed by the Porsche LMP racing team. The race team will use the
communications system on a developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC
Motorsport Communications.

The event during 2018 when this system will be deployed is as follows:

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, California : September 27-30, 2018 inclusive.

The applicant requires for this venue four VHF frequency pairs as specified in this application in
the range 160/166 MHz for duplex voice operations and four simplex channels in the same
frequency range. A single channel for telemetry centered at 1496 is also necessary.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF channel ranges sought
and proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of the Raceway. Similar
STAs have been granted for these same test operations at this and other venues in the past.

The “stop buzzer” contact on behalf of the applicant is Mr. Nigel Lilly. His direct dial telephone
number is +44-(0)-7785-252272. A United States stop-buzzer contact is the undersigned counsel
who can be reached at all times at 301-351-3795.
