It has been requested that the applicant justify the need for 150 RF devices rather than 50. This STA
seeks to provide sufficient communications for a major automobile race. There are over 35 race teams.
Each team has at least two cars and each car is equipped with a mobile transmitter. The pit and team
crews use between ten and 30 portables per team (not all of which would be transmitting at once of
course). There are also broadcast operations and race organizer communications. The specified number
of RF devices is actually conservative in view of the variety of ongoing communications and the extent of
this major sporting event. It represents a good faith estimate of the maximum number of transmitters to
be operating at the race track at any one time.
