MRTC Motorsport Communications
MRTC, Ltd.
Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 0316-EX-ST-2014

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to further test an automobile racing communications system for voice
and telemetry that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at a series of racing events
at automobile racing venues as shown below. The system will be deployed by a single race team
at each location, Oak Racing. The race team will use the communications system on a
developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC Motorsport Communications. It
will consist of one base station, one mobile and 20 portable transceivers.

The TUDOR United Sports Car Championship (TUSC) events during 2014 when this system
will be deployed are as follows:

Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca: May 1-4.
Raceway at Detroit Belle Isle Park: May 29-31.
Watkins Glen Raceway: June 26-29.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway: July 24-26.
Road America, Wisconsin: August 7-10.
Circuit of the Americas: September 18-20.
Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA: October 2-5.

The applicant requires three VHF channels for simplex and duplex voice operations and one
UHF channel for telemetry.

The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF channels sought and
proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of each raceway. The UHF
channel is in the Amateur Radio 420-450 MHz band and this has been coordinated with both
ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio and with the local amateur radio frequency
coordinators for the regions including the above locations.

The “stop buzzer” contact on site on behalf of the applicant will be Mr. Matthieu Leroy, whose
mobile number is +33 (0) 680 62 7932.
