Application for Special Temporary Authority
File No. 0096-EX-ST-2014

PURPOSE OF STA AND FREQUENCY COORDINATION

The purpose of this STA is to further test an automobile racing communications system for voice
and telemetry that is in the developmental stage. The tests will occur at three racing events
during the month of March, 2014 at three different racing venues. The system will be deployed
by the Audi race team at each location. The race team will use the communications system on a
developmental testing basis on behalf of and overseen by MRTC Motorsport Communications.

The events during 2014 when this system will be deployed are as follows:

Sebring, FL Raceway: March 4-8 inclusive.
Circuit of the Americas Raceway, Austin, TX: March 15-19 inclusive.
Road Atlanta Speedway, Atlanta, GA March 24-26 inclusive.

The applicant requires for each venue two VHF frequency pairs as specified in this application in
the range 167/172 MHz and 168/172 MHz for duplex voice operations; two simplex channels in
the 442 MHz range; and a single frequency in the range of 3.655 GHz for telemetry.

The proposed operation in the Amateur Radio band 420-450 MHz near 442 MHz has been
coordinated with local Amateur Radio coordinators and with ARRL, the national association for
Amateur Radio. The applicant has consulted the ULS database with respect to the VHF channel
ranges sought and proposes what are believed to be unoccupied channels in the area of the three
Raceways.

The “stop buzzer” contact on behalf of the applicant is Jo Hausner of Audi. His on-site telephone
number is +49-160-939-80-637.
