Box 358320 Pittsburgh, PA 15251—5320 SUBJECT:;: Application for Experimental License, Form 442 Dear Sir/Madanme: Mobile Telesystems, Inc. (MTI) requests the expeditious granting of the enclosed Application for Radio Station Authorization, Experimental Radio Service, Form 442, to pernmit usage of eight (8) Model MDT—6000 satellite communications terminals. The Model MDT—6000 is a new model portable earth station which utilizes the INMARSAT system of satellite communications. MTI has received INMARSAT Type Approval of the MDT—6000 to operate in conjunction with the INMARSAT system. Use of the MDT—6000 units will enable MTI to develop the product to enhance its business line of providing satellite communications terminals to INMARSAT users throughout the worlda. MTI has applied for the experimental license for eight (8) of its MDT—6000 terminals to perform tests and demonstrations. During operations, no harmful frequency interference will be caused to any lawfully operating radio station. Concurrent with this application, MTI has filed a request with COMSAT Maritime Services for space segment to be used with land based terminals, and assignment of INMARSAT identification numbers for operations of the terminals.
