Box 358320 Pittsburgh, PA 15251—5320 Dear Sir/Madanme: SUBJECT: Application for Experimental License, Form 442 Mobile Telesystems (MTI) requests the expeditious granting of the enclosed Application for Radio Station Authorization, Experimental Radio Service, Form 442, to permit usage of eight (8) Model PCS—7000 "data—lite" satellite communications terminals. The Model PCS—7000 "data—lite" is a new model portable earth station which utilizes the INMARSAT system of satellite communications. MTI has received INMARSAT Type Approval of the Model PCS—7000 "data—lite" to operate in conjunction with the INMARSAT system. Use of the PCS—7000 "data—lite" units will enable MTI to d@evelop the product to enhance its business line of providing satellite communications terminals to INMARSAT users throughout the world. MTI has applied for the experimental license for eight (8) of its PCS—7000 "data—lite" terminals to perform tests and demonstrations . During operations, no harmful frequency interference will be caused to any lawfully operating radio station. Concurrent with this application, MTI has filed a request with COMSAT Maritime Services for space seqgment to be used with land based terminals, and assignment of INMARSAT identification numbers for operations of the terminals.
