Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Applicant requests STA to participate in the Aerial Dragnet Phase 3 Final Demonstration, conducted within a very tight area of Arlington, VA. The operations will be conducted from the rooftop of 1801 North Lynn Street. The subject operations are intended for short-term duration. This event will include the demonstration of static and UAS-deployed sensors in an Area of Regard (AOR) that covers a 0.8 km radius. The aircraft will be operated by Civil Air Patrol and have been coordinated with CONR–1AF (AFNORTH).

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Applicant will be testing UAS sensor capabilities. Operations will be conducted at an altitude not to exceed 400 feet. As part of its sensor package, Applicant will deploy multiple C-Band radars operating at 5.2-6.0 GHz using a custom NLFM waveform with 60 MHz bandwidth with 50 MHz channel separation centered at frequencies within the 5.2-6.0 GHz band. The event organizer (DARPA) has submitted the necessary requests for airspace authorization to the Federal Aviation Administration.
